I would like to know more about James's musical education, how many instruments
he plays, if he's married, I guess bio information!
James'
Answer
I began playing music in 5th grade at 10 yrs. of age in the elementary
school band. I started on drums, but because there were too many
drummers, I was shifted to Tenor Saxophone. I continued in the school band
program throughout my years, greatly influenced by my band director
Alan Baker. In 8th grade I started playing bass in a Southern Gospel
group (there's quite a story there-I'll reserve that to anyone
willing to come and ask me about it after a Wayne concert!) From
there I took up electric guitar at around 17. (My sax playing really
took a back seat at that point, sorry to say.) Still,I was offered
a scholarship on saxophone at Murray State University, something
I didn't take seriously and never really finished the program.
I did continue to pick things out on recordings that I enjoyed,
which is the way I really learned to play guitar. I've been married
2 1/2 years to my wonderful wife, Sonya. We have two "sons,"
a Maltese named Romeo, and a Miniature Pinscher named Tsavo.
